Arab Insurance Group (Arig) is opening an office in Mauritius after receiving the go ahead from local authorities. The island was chosen as a suitable springboard into the East and West African markets in view of its favorable business environment, infrastructure and political stability.

Yassir Albaharna, Arig’s CEO comments: “Our Company has been particularly successful in the Emerging Markets of the Middle East and North Africa. We are intending to employ this expertise for the expansion of our presence in Sub-Sahara Africa, where we are witnessing dynamic development in certain markets and where our name is held in high regards”. Arig’s operation in Mauritius will be headed by Thierry Ravoaja, a Madagascan who joined Arig in 2007 and who is a familiar face with many of the African markets.
