Yassir Albaharna, CEO of Arab Insurance Group (Arig), was recently named among the “Top 40 Most Influential” reinsurance leaders by a prominent British industry magazine.
The list, which includes such illustrious personalities as Warren Buffett and Lloyd’s Chairman Lord Levene, is a Who’s Who of the leading personalities in a $168 billion industry. Reinsurers typically extend the capacity of insurance companies through a greater risk sharing. “Arig put the MENA region on the map of global reinsurance. Founded in 1980, the company has weathered all storms to become one of the most respected organizations in our region” noted Albaharna. “To find myself listed among the global industry greats, and the only Arab on the list, gives me satisfaction not only personally but also for what the company has achieved over the years.” Yassir Albaharna, a Bahraini who joined Arig 21 years ago after finishing his MBA and Master of Engineering, is testament to the breed of Arab managers who create success through a combination of deep technical knowhow and hard work. Yassir heads a team of international professionals to which Bahrainis contribute the largest share at 52%.
